About the work.

The series originates from a moving-image work commissioned in 2021 by the Southern Italian cultural organisation Ulixes, exploring the ancient cult of Athena and her symbolic connection to the olive tree in Apulia.

At its centre is the Athena Lemnia, a bronze sculpture attributed to Phidias in the fifth century BCE. Although the original has disappeared, its image survives through Roman marble copies and later archaeological reconstructions.

Working from this fragmented visual legacy, Athena is reconstructed as a speculative digital sculpture. Through CGI and algorithmic transformations, the classical figure is multiplied, fragmented and reconfigured, moving between recognisable sculptural forms and synthetic abstraction.

The three prints capture distinct moments of this transformation, translating a fluid computational process into monumental works on paper. Suspended between archaeological memory and digital reinvention, Athena questions how cultural images survive, evolve and acquire new meanings across
