A Venetian-inspired landmark becomes a canvas for metamorphosis. Classical sculptures transform into coral-like structures and flowing organic forms across the façade of Denver's historic Daniels & Fisher Tower.
Commissioned for Night Lights Denver / Digerati Emergent Media Festival
About the work.
Created for the Daniels & Fisher Tower, a twenty-storey landmark inspired by Venice’s St Mark’s Campanile, BLOOM brings classical iconography into dialogue with Denver’s urban architecture.
Drawing on Mediterranean sculpture and ancient symbols of fertility, sunlight and natural harmony, the work reimagines classical figures through CGI and procedural animation. Demeter, the goddess of fertility, transforms into flowing vegetation, while Apollo becomes enveloped in soft coral-like structures. Sculptural forms dissolve, mutate and reassemble in an ongoing cycle of metamorphosis.
Projected onto the tower’s façade, these transformations create a meditative interplay between architectural heritage, natural processes and synthetic imagery. BLOOM imagines the built environment as a site of continuous transformation, where classical mythology and speculative nature converge.
Creative Process
BLOOM interweaves speculative vegetative forms with a 3D scan of a pre-Christian bust of Demeter—the time-worn relic of the goddess of fertility and a recurring icon in the artist’s practice. The piece closes with a flashing model of Cleveland Apollo, provided by the Cleveland Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art archive, covered in soft corals.
Together with “Daaphne” and “Aurea”, BLOOM is part of the artist's ongoing investigation into the fragility of contemporary nature, classical iconography, femininity and the human body, elaborated through tech tools, automated writing, GPT, AI-generated images and CGI animation.
