Artist & Designer — Moving Image, Immersive Art, Digital Worlds

Valentina Ferrandes is a Southern Italian artist and designer based in London and Barcelona. Working across moving image, immersive installations and real-time environments, her practice explores the intersections of ecology, mythology and cultural memory through speculative digital worlds. Her work draws on Mediterranean landscapes, ancient mythologies, and the often-invisible processes of the natural world. Classical sculptures dissolve into particles, while hypersaline landscapes become sites for imagining unfamiliar forms of life. These transformations question the boundaries between human and non-human, physical and virtual, past and future.

Rooted in experimental documentary and field research, Ferrandes combines archival materials, environmental recordings, photogrammetry, CGI and procedural systems. Through computational processes, she transforms observed reality into imagined environments, exploring how technology can offer new ways of experiencing natural systems and cultural histories. Her practice takes form through experimental films, architectural projections, public art and immersive installations, often developed in dialogue with composers, researchers and creative production teams.
Ferrandes has realised commissions for Meta Open Arts, Digerati / Denver Night Lights and Ortung 13, Schwabach Gold Biennale. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at MOMus – Experimental Center for the Arts, FILE Festival, MACRO Rome, European Media Art Festival and Ca' Foscari Short Film Festival. She is the recipient of the Carme Daste Digital Art Prize and Emerging Scene Art Prize, and was a finalist for the Aesthetica Art Prize.
